Another benefit to living in Bermuda - the random (well, random for us anyway) holiday weekends. John had off on Monday for Hero's Day, so we were able to enjoy a long weekend together.
Friday night, we stayed in and watched movies, a nice way to wind down from the week and relax. We rented two movies - one being Love and Other Drugs, which we both surprisingly enjoyed. Have I mentioned how much I love Leisure Time - our trusty neighborhood video store?!! I think it's the only place on the island where I feel I am getting a bargain - $2.50 for a new release!
Saturday, we ventured out to John Smith's Bay beach. Although we have beautiful beaches right down the road, we wanted to check out a different part of the island. The beach was beautiful, pretty empty and perfectly sunny!
On the way home, we stopped for lunch at the North Rock Brewing Company - probably a good place for a cold winter's lunch, but at 4pm, it did the trick.
That evening, we went over to the Jordan's for dinner and great company. Marta had bought this crazy light, which I wish I had taken a picture of.....it made the entire outside look like the inside of a disco - with all little green dots everywhere. Excell thought there was a party going on, so as it happens, some dancing (and breakdancing) occurred.
Sunday morning, John headed to the spa with Karl and then we all met at the pool at the Southampton Princess. It was another beautiful day and fun spending the it with the kids and acting like kids!
Even though the pool got a little nutty in the afternoon, Karl and Xavier managed to sneak in a nap while John and Excell were swimming!
Needless to say, our evening plans changed once we got home and realized we were both exhausted! Swimming all day can really be draining! Instead of dinner out, it was take out, US Open and a night on the couch!
Monday was not so nice, but we headed out to do some more exploring anyway. This time, we went to St. George's Parish (as far away from home as we could possibly go) and spent some time walking through the Cooper's Island Nature Reserve. Once fully developed, it's going to be great! For now, there were some beautiful views and beaches! This whole "park" is 44 acres - we didn't see all of it, but a fair portion.
After we worked up an appetite (and waited for the chickens to cross the road), we headed into the town of St. George's for lunch. It's a cute little town and again, you can't beat the view!
And now, it's time for movie night - why not end it the way it started?
