Last Thursday, I went to Colorado to surprise my dear friend Tara who recently got engaged. My quick weekend trip ended up being an entire week because of Irene, so we had more time than expected!
Friday, Tara was going to build a house for a charity with one of her clients, so I tagged along. We spent the morning hammering nails into walls, which was more fulfilling than one would imagine. The houses are sent to Mexico in pieces and then put together down there. They are 450 sq feet and we built 9 of them. Hopefully the families in the village in Mexico will have a better quality of life because of these houses.
Afterwards, we went to the Highlands and had lunch and of course, popped into a bridal store. That evening, Tara was hosting book club at her house with a bunch of girls from college, it was nice to catch up and so nice that they have girls night once a month!

This store was adorable. We just took a walk though, but I'm sure Tara will be back to try on dresses!
Saturday morning, Tara had an appointment with a wedding coordinator, so Heather and I went along with her. It was so fun listening to Tara (and John's) vision for the wedding. The coordinator was so sweet and knowledgeable, I think Tara and John will be in good hands with her. After the appointment, we headed to Boulder for the afternoon. Lunch at Centro was delicious, as always, and it was so nice being in Boulder again with these girls.

Saturday night, Heather, Jason, Olivia and Andrew came to Tara and John's for dinner. It was a nice low-key evening going through bridal magazines and getting Tara organized. Olivia really just cracks me up - she found my heels and decided to prance around in them - I think Heather and Jason are going to be in trouble in a few years!!!!!
Sunday morning, we headed out for manicures and pedicures (much needed for me and much cheaper in Denver than Bermuda!) and a little shopping. We made the obligatory Target stop - obligatory for anyone who lives on an island and doesn't have a Target that is! When we came home, John made us some tasty strawberry margaritas and we had a delicious mexican dinner.

I love that the margaritas were in mason jars!
Monday I hung out with Boulder. Tara had pointed out that Boulder does doggy yoga all the time and I must say, he really does. Downward dog, upward dog and even child's pose!

That evening, Tara and I headed back to Boulder and had dinner at Sushi Zanmai. It was one of our happy places in college and really brought back so many wonderful memories! I don't think we had been there together in at least 10 years, so it was wonderful being back. Not to mention I know why we used to love it - the food is delicious and the atmosphere just so fun.
Tuesday, I went to downtown Denver to do a little shopping and then meet Tara for some more shopping and dinner. The stores in Larimer Square are really great and I loved looking in all of them. I did come across this sign on the side of a building and this statue, which I thought was cool.

Loved this....
We had dinner at Osteria Marco, which was great! I will definitely go back next time I'm in town. They have something on their menu that says....
"Os-ter-i-a - A humble restaurant where friends gather to casually enjoy their wine with food"
Seriously, couldn't be a better place for us to have dinner!
Later that evening, Tara found her romper - I swore we threw this away years ago, but apparently she found it and hid it. To completely understand, Tara has had this since the 7th grade....she wore it in college (well, maybe only once - we all told her it wasn't a good look) and refuses to get rid of it. The best was she decided to sport it when we got home. I got a good laugh, but I think John was slightly afraid.
Wednesday morning it was off to the airport - it was such a fun trip!
A BIG congratulations to Tara and John! We are so excited for you to begin this journey together! Enjoy every minute!! Love you both!!!

Looks like you guys had an amazing time. So jealous that Taylor and I couldn't join you. I did put Taylor in her matching romper today - I will post pictures soon. Now we just need Tara and Taylor together for a group shoot :)
