John, Samantha, Roku and the purple couch

This doesn't happen much, but every so often a weekend comes around when we have no plans.  This was one of those weekends and given the fact we are smack dab in the middle of award season, we decided to spend it at home watching movies.

You would think this would be an easy task, but living on this lovely island means movies don't come down here to be shown in the theaters and if they do, it's only for a few days.  Then there is the issue of the video rental store...  Lucky for us, our friend Steve can make magic happen.  Enter Roku, this little machine (a competitor to Apple TV) that allows you access to Amazon.com and their movie rentals, as well as major tv stations and their content.  Steve came over on Friday after work and hooked this machine up for us and the rest of the weekend was spent in movie heaven, as well as catching up on last season of our favorite shows.  Who needs a DVR now?!

If any of you are trying to catch all the Academy Awards nominated movies, I will just say two things, even knowing movies are a very personal thing....
Midnight is Paris is a must see!
Tree of Life - if movies are moving in this direction, I don't understand it and I'm definitely not ready for it.
